Our January Tot school plans will be the first month where I plan to introduce letters. We will also cover do some snow inspired art, play with Arctic animals, talk about emotions, and some driving practice with her toy cars
My December Tot School Plans are going to be plenty festive with Christmas themed activities, but we will also be learning the difference between gold and silver and talking lots about stars!
July is a big month for us! We will be going back to Alabama to visit the grandparents for two whole weeks so our July Tot school is definitely trimmed back a bit.
How on Earth can it be summer already?! Our June Tot School plans are the most fleshed out for sure as we will be home most of the month. I can tell you the rest of the summer if full of a lot of travel!
We may be nearly halfway through the year but I wanted to share our 2019 Tot School themes. This way anyone that is just now joining us on this tot school journey they can have a rough plan to make planning easier!
This was the first month so far that I have had to do five full weeks of tot school planning!
April Tot School is all about things bright and cheerful! We are spending the whole month on the color yellow and we will be talking about birds & eggs, bunnies, and Easter!
Continue reading “April Tot School”This is our first real month of tot school. Prior to this, I would randomly pull an activity out. I wanted to start slow to make sure that we were both okay with it and not overwhelmed. (to be honest, she’s a pretty chill kid so she would be fine I didn’t want to bite off more than I could chew…lol) So our March Tot School is more or less just a theme for me to work with and maybe a couple of new words for her to hear.
Tot School is not quite preschool – there is no structured lessons or specific thing she has to learn. But it’s also more than just daycare. It’s more about exposure to concepts and everyday tasks, as well as the chance to practice skills that those busy toddler brains are already learning. It also gives a theme for some direction and keeps things interesting for everyone!
Bitty is 18 months old right now and I find that if I don’t have some kind of plan in place we end up watching too much TV. So what did I do? I made a plan, and not just loose ‘hmmm here’s a couple ideas’ kind of plan. There are tables and categories and themes. Just like you would expect my type A brain to do!
